Drone Crop Spraying in the South Burnett: 5 Things to Sort Before You Book

Spring is here across the South Burnett, and with it comes the rush on spraying. Pastures are moving, weeds are flowering and everyone wants their job done in the same few good-weather windows. If you're thinking about drone spraying this season, a little prep goes a long way. Here's what we ask every landholder to sort out before we lock in a date.

1. Know what you're targeting and when

Timing matters more than anything else. Most weeds and pests respond best at a particular growth stage, and spraying too early or too late can mean a second pass you didn't budget for. Tell us what you're targeting and roughly what stage it's at, and we'll plan the job around giving you the best result the first time.

2. Have your product and label sorted

Let us know what product you intend to use, or ask us and we'll talk through options with you and your agronomist. Every job is applied to label and to our chemical application compliance requirements, so knowing the product early helps us plan rates, water volumes and buffer zones properly.

3. Think about neighbours and sensitive areas

Creeks, dams, houses, neighbouring crops and organic or sensitive properties all shape how we set up a job. The more we know up front, the better we can plan buffer zones and droplet size to keep product where it belongs.

4. Water and access

  • A clean water source close to the job saves time on the day.

  • A safe spot to set up near the paddock keeps turnaround tight.

  • Gate codes, stock movements and any boggy or no-go areas are worth mentioning before we arrive.

5. Be ready for the weather window

Spraying only happens when conditions are right: light, steady wind, no rain on the way, and the right temperature and humidity. That sometimes means moving a job by a day or two. A little flexibility on your end means the product works as intended and you don't pay to do it twice.

Why landholders use drones for this

Drones get into places ground rigs and planes can't: wet paddocks, steep country, timbered areas and small or awkward blocks. There's no wheel damage and no compaction, and the job is mapped and logged. For a lot of our clients the biggest win is time. We take responsibility for the job, so they can get on with everything else on the property.

Book early this season

Spring and summer availability across Kingaroy, Nanango, Murgon, Wondai and the wider South Burnett fills fast. If you've got a job coming up, get in touch now and we'll talk it through, with no obligation.
